Czapek& Cie unveils the AntarctiqueRattrapante ‘R.U.R.’, a playful fusion of haute horlogerie and science fiction. Inspired by Karel Čapek’s 1921 play R.U.R., which introduced the word “robot,” this 77-piece limited edition brings a titanium robot to life on the dial. As the chronograph activates, its hand-painted neon eyes change colour—yellow to start, red to stop, blue on reset—highlighting the beauty of the split-seconds mechanism. Created with Jean-François Mojon of Chronode, the calibre SXH6 turns the rattrapante inside-out, revealing its intricate operation on the dial side, enhanced by an isolator that improves chronometric precision. With refined finishing, a 42.5 mm case and integrated bracelet, the ‘R.U.R.’ embodies Czapek’s philosophy: merging creativity, heritage, and mechanical beauty in contemporary watchmaking.
